Background Information

Diagnosed with dyslexia aged 9, Arran classes himself as a severely dyslexic adult – one of the 4% of the population. However, he now sees dyslexia as a difference rather than a disadvantage.

Arran has worked within the field of dyslexia for over 15 years, both with the Leicestershire Dyslexia Association, of which he is Chair, and for the British Dyslexia Association.  He has spoken at many large conferences and events across the UK and more recently at a national conference in India. Arran uses technology to support his needs and without it he would not be able to function as well as he does.

In his role as Microsoft’s UK SEND and Dyslexia Consultant, Arran will be talking about the mainstream use of inbuilt Assistive Technology that can be accessed by teachers, students and dyslexic people of all ages, anytime, anywhere.

Arran will describe the functionality that has been added into Office 365 and Windows 10 which can help to support its dyslexic users. He will also be looking at the specific support that students with dyslexia and SEND may need.
